May 1.
Online module.

Declare status every year.
Which status declare? Also estimation of 5 years status.
Tenure: Usable for 3 years of 5 years. If need to forteit stipend there is a status for that.
Reserve: Usable for 2 of 5 years.
Leave: Medical and Military. Those are the only two.
Failure to declare results in undeclared and terminated. NEED TO DECLARE EVERY YEAR.

Declarations are what you think you need for the entire year.
Change request fellow report the actual use of their tenure and reserve months.
Be up to date on administrattive guide and solicitation for eligibility requirements. Especially for changing institutions.
CO needs approval. Both institutions.

37000 stipend and 16000 COE.
3 Months paid medical leave across entire fellowship.
Declaration is forecasting. Change request is reporting actual uses.

Will not process approve requests till august.
Can request leave or forfeit, but cannot chagne betwen tenure and reserve.
If starting medical leave at start of year, you still select tenure. I think basically if you plan to recieve funding at all, you choose tenure.
If on reserve, can accept federal funding, but not a federal fellowship.
Communicate with CO about the grant I'm on

These are examples of federal fellowships that result in terminating GRFP.
Does the proposed graduate program have to be the same as the major field of study?
Yes. Not exactly sure what this means.
Internships must be declared.
If having an internship for part of the year, but you want to recieve funding for the rest, select on tenure and the forfeit for the period.
Something was weird about a federally funded internship.
Questions
-
If wanting to transfer to new PhD program.
Assume asking change of field of study.
Not allowed in first year. Are allowed to change sub-field. Can change main field after first year of fellowship.
Institution change also on online module. Detailed information in administrative guide. And talk to CO. -
Have to acknowledge GRFP in papers?
Yes. In administrative guide.
A: Up till May 1, declaration change is possible. Or should be. IT help otherwise. Can also submit change request after may 1.
-
After three years of funding, do I still need to declare
Yes. -
Declared field of study vs department name?
Field of study connected to what applied under. If applied under engineering, must be under same for first year.
Subfield within engineering can change fine.
All this info provided also in administrative guide. Also go talk to CO. -
Difference between reserve and forfeit
Reserve does not go against three years of tenure. Forfiet cannot be reclaimed.
Main for year is either tenure or reserve. If for part of year you want to be on federal internship, then you declare for tenure and forfeit for part of year due to replacement with other funding.
COE allowence goes to your institution. Institution may not charge fellow beyond allowence. Things like gym membership and parking may not be covered.
No travel funds.
